Get the most out of your photos!

3 easy steps to plan your portrait session & optimize your session time

#1 – Choose your location

Here is a list of my favorite spots in chico! By no means do you have to choose one of these if you have another place in mind. Just think of this as a creative jump start!  Another great resource is checking out my blog to gather inspiration.

#2 – Decide if you want to use props

We want to capture your authentic self and that will happen with or without props! But it’s good to consider your options, props can add some fun diversity to your session & spice it up! If any calls to you bring it, if not no worries!

#3 – Outfit Coordination & Self-care

  • Hydrate: Sounds like common sense but we get busy and can forget. Drink lot's of water the day before, your skin will thank you for it and you'll love the extra glow in your photos.

  • For ladies: Fresh hair/makeup (some clients have their makeup or hair done professionally, that is totally up to you. This is more about feeling ready and confident for your session!) Manicures can add that something extra, especially for engagement sessions!

  • For guys: Clean shave or groom facial hair, recent hair trim or cut. Do all the things that make you feel fresh and confident.

  • "Coordinating" colors, not "matching"

  • Look at the decor in your home. Sounds funny but if you want your photos to fit in! Earth tones/neutrals/ splashes of color

  • Limit patterns if possible

  • Don't forget accessories. Accessories not only add to your outfit but they can be fun to use in photos.

  • Dress for the Weather

  • Match level of formal /or/ informal
